Day 1 - Saturday 17th December 2011 (D)
Arrive in Launceston, meet your Coach Captain, and begin our holiday heading west stopping at Anvers Bavarian Chocolate Factory. We then head to Devonport for an overnight stay at Gateway Motor Inn.
Day 2 - Sunday 18th December 2011 (B,L,D)
This morning we visit Sheffield, the “Town of Murals” for a wander through town. We then travel to Cradle Mountain National Park for a guided tour of Gustav Weindorffer’s Chalet, then on to Dove Lake. We have a lovely lunch at the Cradle Mountain Chateau and visit the Wilderness and Landscape Gallery. Travelling further south we arrive at the copper mining town of Queenstown and check in for a 2 night stay at the Chancellor Inn, Queenstown.
Day 3 - Monday 19th Dec 2011 (B,L,D)
We head off early to Strahan for a cruise on the mighty Gordon River in reserved premium seating. Voyage through Hell’s Gates, stop at infamous Sarah Island and step ashore at Heritage Landing. Overnight Chancellor Inn, Queenstown.
Day 4 - Tuesday 20th December 2011 (B,L,D)
Departing Queenstown we head east, taking a short rain forest walk in the Franklin Gordon Wild River National Park to Nelson Waterfalls. We stop at the “Wall in the Wilderness” a magnificent timber carved commemoration of Tasmania’s past, break for lunch at Bronte Park, discover the hydro electric village of Tarraleah. We continue on passing the hop fields of the Derwent Valley, New Norfolk, arriving at Hobart and visiting Mt Nelson before we check in to the Fountainside Motel for a 2 night stay.
Day 5 - Wednesday 21st December 2011 (B,L,D)
Our day starts today with a visit to Copping Colonial Museum, a nostalgic collection of trash and treasure. Discover the natural rock formations of Tasman’s Arch and Devil’s Kitchen before arriving at the penal settlement of Port Arthur for lunch and guided tour. Return to the Fountainside Motel, Hobart.
Day 6 - Thursday 22nd December 2011 (B,L,D)
Crossing the Derwent we head north passing through the historical towns of Richmond and Ross. The convict style buildings and unique sandstone buildings are in abundance and house secrets of the turbulent past. We head up to East Coast Nature World and experience Tasmania’s unique animals, and come face to face with the Tasmanian Devil, and have a pat if your dare. We then travel to beautiful St Helens for an overnight stay at Tidal Waters Resort.
Day 7 - Friday 23rd December 2011 (B,L,D)
This morning we visit the Legerwood Carvings a tribute to the soldiers that served World War One, followed by a tour of the Bridestowe Lavender Farm, one of the world’s largest single commercial lavender farms. We travel via the unique A frame Batman Bridge before checking in for 3 nights at Tamar Valley Resort, situated in the Grindelwald Swiss Village.
Day 8 - Saturday 24th December 2011 (B,L,D)
We head north to Brady’s Lookout, offering picturesque views of the Tamar Valley and eastern mountains. We then make our way to Beauty Point to visit the only Sea Horse Farm in the world or Platypus House (the choice is yours). Our afternoon is spent at Cataract Gorge with its cliff-side gardens, peacocks and Alexandra Suspension Bridge. We take a ride on the world’s longest single span chairlift before heading back to our accommodation at Tamar Valley Resort.
Day 9 - Sunday 25th December 2011 (B,L,D)
Merry Christmas! Today is your day to relax and enjoy the facilities at the resort. Perhaps a game of golf at the 9 hole, par 30 golf course, a game of mini golf, tennis or a swim in the heated swimming pool or just relax. Enjoy Christmas Day celebrations with your fellow passengers while having a lovely lunch at the resort.
Day 10 - Monday 26th December 2011 (B)
Today we travel to Longford to the historic Woolmers Estate for a guided tour. We take a self-guided tour of the National Rose Garden before heading to the airport and our return flights.
