Day 1 - Wednesday (D)
Arrive in Darwin as per your flight schedule to be met by our Coach Captain for this leg of our journey. Enjoy a city orientation tour before checking into the Holiday Inn, Darwin for 3 nights.
Day 2 - Thursday (B,L,D)We depart our Hotel for Litchfield N.P. where you will enjoy a short walk at the termite mounds, with native birdlife in abundance. View Tolma Falls, lunch at the Litchfield Café and then on to a spot of swimming in the crystal clear pools at the beautiful Wangi Falls before returning to our hotel.
Day 3 - Friday (B,L,D)Today we enjoy some of the wonderful sights of Darwin visiting Crocodylus Park, then on to the Darwin Military Museum. Next we take time to browse the Darwin Museum Art Gallery, depicting the destructive force of Cyclone Tracy and a display of indigenous art. Our afternoon takes us to Darwin's beautiful Botanic Gardens, Cullen Bay, down town Darwin and through to the NT Parliament.
Day 4 - Saturday (B,L,D)Early start this morning boarding The Ghan, one of the great train journeys of the world bound for Alice Springs. Discover Australia's rugged romantic reds in indulgent Gold Service as the landscape mellows with subtropical flora staking its claim over the passing scenery, and be captivated as you bear witness to the continent's achingly beautiful heart. The Ghan stops in Katherine for approximately four hours, and during this time there are several optional Whistle Stop tours.
Day 5 - Sunday (B,L,D)After breakfast The Ghan is scheduled to arrive into Alice Springs, and we are met by our Coach Captain. We take a brief orientation tour of the town, followed by a visit to Anzac Hill, a lookout offering spectacular views of the rugged MacDonnell Range. After lunch we visit the Royal Flying Doctor Service, School of the Air, and the Alice Springs Telegraph Station historical reserve. Arrive and check-in to the Hotel Chifley, Alice Springs for 2 nights.
Day 6 - Monday (B,L,D)Depart for a full day touring through the West MacDonnell Ranges to Standley Chasm, Ellery Creek Big Hole. We visit Glen Helen Homestead for lunch before departing for Ormiston Gorge and stopping at Simpson's Gap at sunset.
Day 7 - Tuesday (B, L, D)An early start this morning visiting Alice Springs Desert Park for the Birds of Prey show and nocturnal house, then we continue on to Kings Canyon stopping at Stuarts Well & Mt Ebenezer before arriving at Kings Canyon Resort for an overnight stay.
Day 8 - Wednesday (B,L,D)Enjoy a guided walk around the rim of Kings Canyon and through the "Lost City" and "Garden of Eden". Travel through some of the vast cattle properties of Central Australia, stopping at Kings Creek Station for lunch. Arrive this afternoon at Ayers Rock Resort for a 2 night stay. This evening we re-board the coach to admire the ever changing colours of Uluru at sunset whilst enjoying champagne and canapés.
Day 9 - Thursday (B,L,D)We witness the first rays of dawn setting Uluru alight before we take a guided walk to the Mutitjulu Waterhole and continue along to the Mala Walk. We drive around the base of Uluru, and visit the Uluru-Kata Tjuta Cultural Centre and Walpa Gorge at The Olgas before returning to our Hotel. Tonight experience the Sounds of Silence, dining under the canopy of the desert night, while your very own storyteller shares tales as told in the stars.
Day 10 - Friday (B)
Flights home this morning.
