Day 1 – Monday (D)
Fly into Adelaide early afternoon where we are met by our local guide boasting 20 years experience in tourism, with outback tours playing a major role. We start with a city tour of Adelaide before heading through Gawler situated on the North and South Para Rivers and Gawler River. We parallel the Barossa Valley heading north through Auburn and onto Clare for an overnight stay at The Clare Valley Motel.
Day 2 – TUESDAY (B,MT,L,D)
After breakfast we continue North through the rural town of Jamestown which is
situated on the main train line between Perth and Sydney. The landscape changes
from hills to mountains as we travel through Orroroo, Carrington and Cradock, and on to Hawker, in the southern end of the Flinders Ranges. We stop for lunch at the ‘Pub with Character’, The Prairie Hotel. Take time to stretch the legs after lunch before we continue further into the Flinders Ranges through Leigh Creek, Lyndhurst and on to Marree for a two night stay at the ‘Marree Motel’. The accommodation is basic Motel style with ensuites, but it is the best place to stay for local knowledge and friendly hospitality.
Day 3 – WEDNESDAY (B,MT,L,D)
The scenic flight today is what we have been travelling for! An early breakfast and
out to the airport for a fly over the Lake Eyre National Park and Cooper Creek. Enjoy
the spectacle of what this land and the rarity of water in this area have to offer as we embrace this once in a lifetime chance. On the return from our memorable flight, we board the coach and head along the Birdsville Track where we break for lunch at the famous Cooper Creek, the second longest river system in Australia. We return by the same route to Marree for our second night stay.
Day 4 – THURSDAY (B,L,D)
After breakfast we start heading south through the coal mining town of Leigh Creek, east of the Gammon Ranges National Park and onto Parachilna for an early lunch. We then turn off into the Northern end of the Flinders Ranges National Park and onto
Wilpena. The natural giant-like amphitheatre of Wilpena Pound is the centre piece of the National Park. Again we are treated to a wonderful spectacle with a flight over the Pound. This evening we dine and stay in 4 star comfort at the Wilpena Pound Resort.
Day 5 – FRIDAY(B,L,D)
This morning we head south through Hawker, once a railway town which was on the original Ghan Railway Line. We travel through the rail head town of Quorn, known for its old style charm and famous for being the setting for many scenes in movies. We continue through Mt. Remarkable National Park and as we enter the Clare Valley we break for lunch. The `Graces’ part of our holiday begins and our afternoon takes us to the beautiful Barossa Valley where we check-in to the stylish Weintal Resort, staying in deluxe rooms. Our final night tonight, we are treated to a delectable 3 course dinner by resident chef who has prepared meals for Queen Elizabeth and Princess Diana.
Day 6 – SATURDAY (B)
This morning we enjoy the sights of the Barossa before heading through the Adelaide hills to Adelaide airport for our mid morning
flight home.
Deposit required to secure this booking $600pp.
