Day 1 - (D)
On arrival in Adelaide we meet our coach captain, and start our holiday heading north on Highway 1, passing through the Virginia market gardening area en-route to Point Wakefield, located at the top of Gulf St Vincent. Continue north past Lochiel, Snowtown and Crystal Brook, making our way to Port Augusta and checking in at Acacia Ridge Motor Inn, Port Augusta.
Day 2 - (B,MT,L,D)
Departing Port Augusta, we travel between the Flinders Ranges and the Spencer Gulf, before turning off Highway 1, in to the beautiful Pichi Richi pass. This is the original route of the Ghan railway line, constructed through here in 1878. Stop for morning tea in Quorn, one of the Flinders Ranges loveliest towns. Continue north through the heart of the Flinders, and past Hawker, stopping at Parachilna for lunch at the Prairie Hotel. After lunch we continue north through Lyndhurst on our way to Marree for our overnight stay. Accommodation is en-suited cabin style at the local caravan park.
Day 3 - (B,L,D)
The scenic flight today is what we have been travelling for! An early breakfast and out to the airport for a fly over the Lake Eyre National Park and Cooper Creek. Enjoy the spectacle of what this land and the rarity of water in this area have to offer as we embrace this rare opportunity. On the return from our memorable flight, we have lunch before heading south. Visit the ruins of historic Farina, and see spectacular Ochre Cliffs, then start heading south through to the coal mining town of Leigh Creek for an overnight stay at the Leigh Creek Tavern.
Day 4 - (B,L,D)
This morning we head into the heart of the Flinders Ranges, visiting the old copper mine at Blinman, and tour through Brachina Gorge and Bunyeroo Valley. We finish the day with a scenic flight over the spectacular Wilpena Pound. Arrive and check in at the 4 star Rawnsley Park Station.
Day 5 - (B,L,D)
This morning we head south through Hawker, once a railway town which was on the original Ghan Railway Line. Visit the Jeff Morgan Gallery, and enjoy Jeff’s spectacular panorama of the Flinders. Continue south to Jamestown for lunch, then through the Clare Valley wine region. Our afternoon takes us to the beautiful Barossa Valley where we check in to the stylish Barossa Weintal Resort, staying in deluxe rooms. Our final night tonight we are treated to a delectable 3 course dinner by resident chef who has prepared meals for Queen Elizabeth and Princess Diana.
Day 6 - (B)
This morning we enjoy the sights of the Barossa before we head through the Adelaide hills to Adelaide airport for our mid morning flight home.
