Day 1 - Thu 6th Oct 2011 (D)
Arrive in Adelaide and tour the sights of this lovely city known as the ‘festival city’. Admire stunning architecture surrounded by sweeping gardens, beautiful churches and the vibrancy of a modern inner city. We take a city sights tour of Adelaide visiting Victoria Square in the heart of the city, and the grand boulevard of King William Street, Trinity Church, Adelaide’s oldest church, and St Peters Cathedral. We then travel to Victor Harbor for an overnight stay at Hotel Victor. .
Day 2 - Fri 7th Oct 2011 (B,L,D)
This morning we take the scenic route to Cape Jervis where we board the ferry for transfers to Kangaroo Island. On arrival we visit Clifford’s Honey Farm where we see and hear about the unique Ligurian Bee (only found on Kangaroo Island). Next stop is the Emu Ridge Eucalyptus Distillery, manufacturer of fascinating traditional Aussie bush products. During our visit we get to see, hear, touch and smell everything involved in the distilling process. We relax over a BBQ lunch then head off to the Island Pure Sheep Dairy and watch the novel process of sheep milking before checking in to the Aurora Ozone Hotel for a 2 night stay. Later this afternoon we visit the nightly pelican feeding at Kingscote Beach.
Day 3 - Sat 8th Oct 2011 (B,L,D)
Visit Seal Bay Conservation Park and walk along the beach among Australia’s largest breeding colony of Australian Sea Lions. We break at the Chase Cafe for lunch, then visit Flinders Chase National Park, where we see wildlife including koalas, echidnas, kangaroos and geese. Visit the impressive Remarkable Rocks, Admiral’s Arch, and see fur seals play at close range at Cape du Couedic.
Day 4 - Sun 9th Oct 2011 (B,L,D)
Boarding the morning ferry we leave Kangaroo Island and head to picturesque McLaren Vale where we enjoy lunch at Oscars, then continue our journey to the oldest German settlement in Australia, Hahndorf, for a look-about tour and free time. We then travel to Adelaide Parklands to board the Indian Pacific for our journey to Perth. Enjoy Gold Service accommodation and dining on this journey which sees our first night taking us past the Flinders Ranges.
Day 5 - Mon 10th Oct 2011 (B,L,D)
Heading west across the desolate Nullarbor, our first stop is at Cook, one of the world’s most remote outposts. Our journey continues with the next stop on our agenda being the ‘City of Gold’, Kalgoorlie. Optional whistle stop tours available on board.
Day 6 - Tue 11th Oct 2011 (B,L,D)
We arrive into Perth where our private coach meets us at the Indian Pacific Rail Terminal. We travel to the Swan Valley, renowned for its fine food and fascinating history. A visit to Cape Lavender for lunch, followed by sampling of premium lavender wines and time to browse the gift shop. Travel back to Perth, taking in the views of the South Perth foreshore, the Swan Bell Tower and Kings Park. Arrive and check in to Miss Maud’s Swedish Motel.
Day 7 - Wed 12th Oct 2011 (B,L,D)
Today we depart for the south west travelling to Margaret River and passing through Mandurah. We take a break at the coastal town of Busselton, for lunch, then we head out to Cape Naturalist, with the highlights being the Canal Rocks and small bays. Stop at the village of Cowaramup to visit the Candy Cow for a fudge and nougat indulgence. Our last visit takes us to the Margaret River Chocolate Factory before checking in to Australis Margaret River.
Day 8 - Thu 13th Oct 2011 (B,L,D)
Today we take in the best that Margaret River has to offer by exploring local caves, artisans and wineries. At our first stop at The Melting Pot Gallery we watch hot glass artist Jerry create beautiful glass objects. We continue on to the Mammoth Cave showcasing spectacular formations including the Karri Forest flowstone, which resembles the unique trees of the region. Relax over lunch and enjoy wine tasting at the award winning Lamont’s winery. Our afternoon takes us south to Augusta and Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse, where the Southern & Indian Oceans meet. We then travel on to Pemberton for an overnight stay at the Pemberton Hotel.
Day 9 - Fri 14th Oct 2011 (B,L,D)
We travel east towards Albany stopping at Gloucester Tree Lookout, and visiting the Valley of the Giants to walk along the tree tops and get a bird’s eye view of the giant trees of the Tingle Forest. After lunch we continue on to Denmark where the forest meets the sea, then arrive at Albany, the first European settlement in Western Australia. Here we visit Mount Clarence Memorial, Natural Bridge, The Gap and Blow Holes. Arrive and check in at the Comfort Inn Albany.
Day 10 - Sat 15th Oct 2011 (B,L,D)
This morning sit back and enjoy the scenery as we head north out of the south west hinterland and into the wheat belt via the Stirling Ranges. Stop at the grain growing town of Lake Grace for lunch before heading to Hyden, home of Wave Rock, and see Hippos Yawn and Mulka’s Cave before checking in to the Hyden Motel for an overnight stay.
Day 11 - Sun 16th Oct 2011 (B,L,D)
Today we’ll be making our way north west towards the coast and the seaside town of Cervantes. We stop in York, Western Australia’s oldest settlement for lunch, then continue our journey travelling along the colourful wildflower trail. Arrive and check in at the Pinnacle Hotel for an overnight stay.
Day 12 - Mon 17th Oct 2011 (B,L,D)
Our day starts with an early morning journey to the mystical Pinnacles Desert in Nambung National Park, as this is the best time to view these limestone pillars and the local wildlife. We stop at the Western Wildflower Farm, exporters of dried wildflowers to eleven countries. Travel to New Norcia, founded in the 1800’s and home to a community of Benedictine Monks and beautiful Spanish architecture, before heading back to Perth to check in at Miss Maud’s Swedish Motel.
Day 13 - Wed 18th Oct 2011 (B)
Enjoy an early breakfast before being transferred to the airport for our flight back home.
