Day 1 - Tuesday 26th April (MT,L,D)
Departing approximately 7.30am from Roma Street, Brisbane we travel south through the picturesque Tweed Valley stopping for morning tea at Plantation House. We continue to the Scottish Town of Maclean for lunch, then make our way through Coffs Harbour, finishing our day at Port Macquarie for an overnight stay at Quality Sails Resort Port Macquarie.
Day 2 - Wednesday 27th April (B,MT,L,D)
Departing Port Macquarie we have an easy day, firstly stopping at Karuah, for morning tea break and leg stretch. We continue on the Newcastle Freeway arriving at Gosford for lunch. We then travel to the northern suburbs of Sydney, arriving at Hotel Chifley for an overnight stay.
Day 3 - Thursday 28th April (B,MT,L,D)
This morning we head for Campbelltown the state’s first satellite city, then head south along the Hume Highway to the city of Goulburn, home to the Big Merino. We then travel through the rich sheep farming areas of Gunning, Yass, onto Gundagai for lunch. While on route we visit the ‘Dog on the Tucker Box’ at Snake Gully, then continue south through Tarcutta and Holbrook, arriving and checking in at Quality Hotel on Olive, Albury for a 3 night stay.
Day 4 - Friday 29th April (B,MT,L,D)
Today we head toward the High Country along the Kiewa Valley Highway to Mt Beauty. We stop to hear about the Hydro Electric Scheme and surrounding district. Next we head up the mountain through Bogong and onto the High Plains at Falls Creek. Weather permitting, we can visit Wallace’s Hut, built by the Wallace Brothers, and is oldest hut still standing in the Bogong High Plains. Our afternoon takes us travelling the picturesque ‘Tawonga Gap’ Road to the beautiful town of Bright, to see the colourful autumn clad roads to Myrtleford and on to the Historical Town of Beechworth. Return to Quality Hotel on Olive.
Day 5 - Saturday 30th April (B,D)
Today we visit the Mt Beauty Music Festival, featuring Jazz, Blues, Country and World music, the festival will also be introducing a classical element as well as a fine line of artists including comedians and poets.
Day 6 - Sunday 1st May (B,MT,L,D)
Leaving Albury we head north along the Olympic Highway through Culcairn and on to The Rock. We continue on through Wagga Wagga, on to the Junee Round House Museum. After lunch we head to Cootamundra, Young, and on to Cowra to the Countryman Motor Inn for an overnight stay.
Day 7 - Monday 2nd May (B,L,D)
After a leisurely breakfast we board the coach and travel to the Japanese Gardens and Cultural Centre in Cowra. We continue through Blayney, on to Bathurst, and take the opportunity to do a circuit of Mount Panorama Race Track (by coach). Arriving at Abercrombie House we take a guided tour, followed by lunch. Our afternoon takes us north passing through the old gold mining town of Sofala and into the wine district town of Mudgee, for an overnight stay at the beautifully appointed Parklands Resort.
Day 8 - Tuesday 3rd May (B,L,D)
This morning we visit Gulgong to visit the famous pioneer museum, before we head north via Coolah, (the town with the black stump), and through the rich wheat, sheep and beef farming districts. We arrive at Gunnedah for lunch and then head east to the city of Tamworth stopping at the ‘Big Guitar’. We then head up the Moonbi Range passing through Uralla towards our destination, and overnight stay at Armidale. Overnight Quality Hotel Powerhouse.
Day 9 - Wednesday 4th May (B,MT,L)
Travelling north from Armidale we travel through Glen Innes and on to Tenterfield, across the border at Wallangarra, past the grape growing districts of Ballandean, and apple growing areas of Stanthorpe. The decent from this cool climate is obvious as you travel down to the ‘Rose and Rodeo’ city of Warwick, our lunch stop today, before we descend the Cunningham Ranges back into Brisbane.
