Later, depart the mountain and check-in to the four star Quality Hotel Mermaid Beach in the heart of the Gold Coast for a 5 night stay.

Today we cruise the Tweed River to historical Tumbulgum. Enjoy a hearty sausage sizzle lunch onboard while our Captain gives an informative commentary. Take in the sights of Mt Warning, sub tropical rainforests, sugar cane and banana plantations. The spectacular feeding of the Hawks, Kytes, Eagles and Pelicans is a highlight of this tour.  On our return we travel via Point Danger, one of the most photogenic spots on the Gold Coast.

Day 3 – Tuesday (B,MT,L,D)

Today we head inland to the rich horse stud and wine growing region of Canungra stopping at Hinze Dam for morning tea. See the historic Lahey’s Tramway Tunnel, built in the days of the Lahey’s Timber Mill to transport timber from the surrounding area, it was used as an ammunition dump during World War II and was restored as part of the 50th Anniversary celebrations. We continue on into the Lamington National Park in the Border Rangers to O’Reilly’s Canungra Valley Vineyards. The O’Reilly family name is synonymous with early tourism, adventure and the superb bushmanship of Bernard O’Reilly and his finding the crash site of the Stinson.  Enjoy wine tasting and lunch surrounded by beautiful vineyards and the babbling of the Canungra Creek.  Afterwards take time to wander the main street of this country town before we slowly make our way back to our hotel. Tonight enjoy a BBQ dinner Al Fresco style.

This morning enjoy a little retail therapy at the fabulous Pacific Fair. Then we’re off to Jupiter’s Casino for a lunch and show. Indulge in the abundant array of hot and cold dishes including fresh prawns at the Food Fantasy buffet. Then it’s show time! A relaxing start this morning as today is all about lifestyles of the rich and famous.  Travelling ‘Gold Class’ we discover Chevron Island, Paradise Waters and Sovereign Island, see stunning watercraft in The Broadwater then break for morning tea at The Spit with views of South Stradbroke and Wavebreak Islands. Lunch today is at Queensland’s only revolving restaurant, Four Winds, boasting 360 degree views of the Pacific Ocean, Surfers Paradise and Gold Coast Hinterland. Spoil yourself at the buffet with mouth-watering seafood, Asian inspired dishes and tempting desserts. We return to our hotel for a break before our night out at the acclaimed Outback Spectacular. Get ready for a night you’ll never forget!

Day 6 – Friday (B,L)

After breakfast on our final day, we head north to Brisbane for a morning of sightseeing. It’s all aboard for a fully narrated river cruise showcasing the highlights of Brisbane before disembarking at Newstead Park to visit historic Newstead House, Brisbane’s oldest surviving residence dating from 1846. Enjoy lunch in the shade of the “talking” fig tree before concluding your tour with a short drive to either Roma St Station or Brisbane airport for flights after 3pm.
