Day 1 – Wednesday (L,D) Australia Zoo | Rydges Oasis Resort Caloundra
Arrange for flight into Brisbane by 10am, where we board our coach and head for Australia Zoo for a full days entertainment as well as the perfect viewing of animals of all descriptions. A day at the Zoo and then on to Caloundra to check into Rydges Oasis Resort for an overnight stay.
Day 2 – Thursday (B,L,D) Ginger Factory | Hinterland | Fraser Coast
This morning we explore the Sunshine Coastline, arriving at Yandina’s famous Ginger Factory, for a guided tour and tasting of the different ginger products available for purchase. We continue to the hinterland for a picnic lunch with view of The Glass House Mountains before hugging the hinterland range, stopping at Montville for some retail therapy. We finish our day travelling down the range through the gold mining town of Gympie, arriving at the Fraser Coast for 4 nights, staying at the quality Carriers Arms Hotel.
Day 3 – Friday (B,L,D) Fraser Island 4WD Day Tour
Today we explore the world heritage listed ‘Fraser Island,’ showcasing the crystal waters of Lake McKenzie and its dazzling white beaches. Visit central station, a former forestry camp with its huge satinay, scribbly gum, brush box and kauri trees. Travel along the Seventy Mile Beach to the coloured sands of the pinnacles and passing the wreck of the cruise ship “The Maheno”. We then relax and enjoy a hot and cold buffet lunch at Eurong Beach Resort before we are transferred across the Island to the barge for our return to the mainland.
Day 4 – Saturday (B,L,D) Coral Coast | Mystery Craters | Bundaberg Rum | Childers
Today takes us to the Coral Coast visiting the sugar cane town of Bundaberg, famous for its “Bundaberg Rum”. A spooky start, visiting the Mystery Craters, and then continuing on past the Bundaberg Rum Distillery, the Ginger Beer Factory and on through the cane fields to Bargara Beach. Our afternoon takes us to the township of Childers, where you can visit the memorial for the Palace Hotel backpackers. A yummy treat at Mamino’s Ice Creamery en-route to our Hotel.
Day 5 – Sunday (B,L,D) Mary Valley Rattler | Traveston Crossing | Historic Hotel
Today we board “The Mary Valley Rattler” an old world steam train that travels the picturesque Mary Valley to the tiny township of Imbil. We then re-board the coach and take a first hand look at the proposed area of the Traveston Crossing Dam. We then head for lunch at the Hideway Hotel, a hotel in the bush, to enjoy country hospitality and a BBQ. Our afternoon takes us on a scenic route across the Mary River back to our Hotel.
Day 6 – Monday (B,L,D)Heritage Tour | Country South Burnett | Tuscan Feast | Grand Finale Dinner & Show
Hot Breakfast before joining ‘Mary Heritage’ our guide in period costume, for an informative tour of Maryborough’s beautiful heritage & stately homes. homes. Leaving the Fraser Coast we travel to the country Burnett region of Murgon and Kingaroy. We travel towards the Bjelke Peterson Dam arriving at Moffatdale Ridge Winery for a Tuscan feast and fabulous entertainment by tenor Tom McCahon. Winding down our afternoon travelling to Kingaroy, ‘the peanut capital of Australia’. We take a tour of the town prior to checking into the Pioneer Lodge. Tonight is our grand finale night featuring ‘Buck Outback’, our entertainer for the evening.
Day 7 – Tuesday (B,L) Bunya Mountains | Darling Downs | Flights home
A visit to the famous peanut van before we leave Kingaroy, and head for the hills through the Bunya Mountains. We then make our way through Oakey to Toowoomba on the Darling Downs, stopping for lunch at the Blue Mountain Hotel overlooking Toowoomba’s escarpment. We then make our way back to Brisbane airport. Please arrange your return flights after 3pm.
