Bunya Mountains
This morning we explore the quaint towns in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland and enjoy a picnic style lunch with views of The Glass House Mountains.  We then travel down the range arriving at Yandina’s famous Ginger Factory, for a guided tour and tasting of the different ginger products available for purchase.  We continue on through the gold mining town of Gympie, arriving at the Fraser Coast for 4 nights staying at the quality Carriers Arms.

Day 2 (B,L,D)

Fraser Island stretches over 123 kilometres in length and 22 kilometres at its widest point. With an area of 184 000 hectares it is the largest sand island in the world.  Our 4WD tour today takes in the crystal clear waters of Lake Mackenzie and dazzling white beaches.   Explore Central Station, a former forestry camp with huge Satinay, Scribbly Gum, Brush Box and Kauri trees.  Walk along the banks of Wanggoolba Creek which flows gently and silently through lush rainforest.  Relax and enjoy a packed lunch en-route before we are transferred back to the ferry terminal for our return the mainland.

Day 3 (B,L,D)

Today we board “The Mary Valley Rattler” an old world steam train that travels the picturesque Mary Valley to the tiny township of Kadanga. We continue on via coach to the historic Hideaway Hotel for BBQ lunch.  Return to Carriers mid afternoon.

Day 4 (B,L,D)

Today takes us to the Coral Coast visiting the sugar cane town of Bundaberg, famous for its Bundaberg Rum. We take in the Botanic Gardens before visiting the Bundaberg Rum Distillery souvenir shop. Then it’s on to the Port of Bundaberg before breaking for lunch. This afternoon we take in Bargara Beach, The Hummock, and then the township of Childers, where you can visit the memorial for the Palace Hotel backpackers.

Day 5 (B,D)

This morning we join ‘Mary Heritage’ our guide in period costume, for an informative tour of Maryborough’s beautiful heritage & stately homes.  We leave the Fraser Coast and travel to the country Burnett region of Murgon and Kingaroy. We travel towards the Bjelke Peterson Dam arriving at Moffatdale Ridge Winery for a Tuscan feast and fabulous entertainment by tenor Tom McCahon.  We wind down our afternoon travelling to Kingaroy, ‘the peanut capital of Australia’. We take a tour of the town prior to checking into the Pioneer Lodge.

Day 6 (B)

A visit to the famous peanut van before we leave Kingaroy, and head for the hills through the Bunya Mountains.  We then make our way through Oakey to Toowoomba on the Darling Downs stopping for lunch at the Blue Mountain Hotel overlooking Toowoomba’s escarpment. We then make our way back home.
