LARC

Sandcastles 1770 Motel & Resort
Mystery Craters
Day 1 (MT,L,D)
Coach departs Brisbane heading north and stopping for morning tea at Gympie Duck Ponds. We meet `Mary Heritage’ dressed in colourful period costume for a historic city tour of Maryborough, followed by lunch at the Carriers Arms Hotel. Pass through charming Childers, and cattle & crop areas of Gin Gin and Miriam Vale. Arrive at the 4 star Sandcastles 1770 Motel and Resort for a 3 night stay. Nestled alongside the north facing beach of Agnes Water and protected by a natural headland, the beachfront Resort is one of the most beautiful, idyllic and desirable holiday locations on Queensland’s Discovery Coast.
Day 2 (B,MT,L,D)
This morning we take an ideal getaway on the Pink Amphibious LARC. The Paradise Tour takes us along the coastline of Eurimbula National Park and offers an informative commentary on wildlife and the history of Bustard Bay, crossing four tidal creeks and four-wheel driving up the steep climb to the historic Bustard Head Light Station. We then re-board the coach and return to our Resort.
Day 3 (B,MT,L,D)
This morning we head north stopping at Lake Awonga for morning tea. We continue on to Gladstone, a bustling seaboard city with one of the busiest ports in Australia. Marvel at the hub of this city from Auckland Hill look-out offering views over the marina, bulk loading facilities, power station and Queensland Alumina. Enjoy lunch overlooking the harbour before returning to Sandcastles Resort via Tannum Sands. Tonight we are treated to dinner out overlooking an amazing Agnes Water sunset.
Day 4 (B,MT,L)
Sadly we leave Sandcastles 1770 Resort, we head to Bundaberg for a spooky experience at the Mystery Craters, Australia’s most baffling phenomenon. Since their discovery in 1971, the origins of the 35 oddly shaped craters have remained the subject of controversy. The mottled mixture of sandstone and ochre stain have been the subject of many investigations. We continue onto Bundaberg for a picnic lunch at the botanic gardens, followed by a town tour. We head back to Brisbane stopping en-route for a comfort stop and cuppa.
