Day 1 – Wed 29th Feb 2012 (MT,L,D)
We depart Brisbane, at Roma Street and travel over the Great Dividing Range stopping at Bestbrook Mountain Resort for morning tea. We continue on and break at Inglewood for lunch, then on to Goondiwindi, arriving at Moree to check-in to the Dragon Phoenix Motel. The motel boasts its own on-site naturally hot Artesian Thermal Baths, so bring your bathers and take time to rejuvenate the body.
Day 2 – Thur 1st March 2012 (B,MT,L,D)
Departing Moree we travel through Narrabri and on to Coonabarabran for morning tea. We break for lunch today at Dubbo, then head through Peak Hill to the CSIRO Radio Telescope. We continue on to Parkes for an overnight stay at the Bushman’s Motor Inn.
Day 3 – Fri 2nd March 2012 (B,MT,L,D)
After breakfast we leave Parkes, travel through Forbes and on to West Wyalong for morning tea. Then it’s off to visit the famous Temora Aviation Museum, displaying a number of different military aircraft of historical significance to Australia. Our afternoon takes us to Gundagai for a two night stay at the Sovereign Motor Inn.
Day 4 – Sat 3rd March 2012 (B,L,D)
Today we join in the festivities of The Rhythm & Rail Festival showcasing the regions Dsignificant rail heritage. The Junee Lamb Lunch and Bethungra Spiral Shuttle on the Tin Hare are highlights today. The festival also includes heritage train journeys, live music, boutique and farmers markets, and the Rocky Road world record attempt. Return to our accommodation in Gundagai.
Day 5 – Sun 4th March 2012 (B,L,D)
This morning we make our way to ‘Monte Cristo Homestead’ reportedly “the most haunted house in Australia”. We then make our way to the Liquorice and Chocolate factory for a tour and lunch. Leaving Junee we make our way to Bathurst to check-in at Citigate Mount Panorama. Located trackside at Mount Panorama V8 raceway, this modern hotel has guest rooms with views of Conrod Straight and Caltex Chase.
Day 6 – Mon 5th March 2012 (B,L,D)
This morning we do a circuit of Mount Panorama Race Track (by coach), then take a guided tour of historic Bathurst. Our next stop is Abercrombie House for lunch before discovering the old gold mining town of Sofala and ending our day in the wine district town of Mudgee, with an overnight stay at the beautifully appointed Parklands Resort.
Day 7 – Tue 6th March 2012 (B,MT,L,D)
Today we are on road with plenty of breaks along the way. Departing Mudgee we break for morning tea, then continue on and stop for lunch at The Big Guitar at Tamworth. We then make our way through Uralla, bypassing Armidale, taking the Waterfall Way and finishing our day at Coffs Harbour, checking in to the Novotel Pacific Bay Resort.
Day 8 – Wed 7th March 2012 (B,MT,L)
Today we leisurely head for home, we stop for a morning tea break at Maclean, then continue on through Lennox Head to Byron Bay for lunch before our return to Roma Street, Brisbane.
