Day 1 – WEDNESDAY 28TH NOV 2012 (L,D)
Departing approximately 9am from Roma Street, Brisbane we travel the Cunningham Highway to Aratula for a comfort stop, then cross the Great Dividing Range to Warwick for lunch. Continue west through Inglewood to Goondiwindi for a break then travel the Newell Highway south to Moree for an overnight stay at the Dragon Phoenix Motel.
Day 2 – THURSDAY 29TH NOV 2012 (B,L,D)
This morning we continue south through Narrabri, a prosperous modern country town servicing a large and highly productive agricultural district in the heart of the rich Namoi Valley. We arrive at Pilliga Pottery for lunch and a tour of the extensive ceramics workshop and gallery. Our afternoon takes us via the country town of Coonabarabran to Dubbo. Arrive and check-in at the Cattleman’s Motor Inn, Dubbo.
Day 3 – FRIDAY 30TH NOV 2012 (B,L,D)
We start today at the Western Plains Zoo. Escorted by a local guide, we experience an informative wildlife zoofari, followed by lunch. Leave Dubbo heading south on the Mitchell Highway bound for Cowra to arrive and check-in at the Cowra Motor Inn for a 2 night stay.
Day 4 – SATURDAY 1ST DEC 2012 (B,L,D)
Today the Cherry Festival in Young presents a fabulous full day including Farmers Markets, Car Show, Busking Competitions and Dog Trials. We visit Poppa’s Fudge and Jam Factory before lunch at the Willows Restaurant. Later we visit Ballinaclash Orchard and Cellar Door where you can purchase your own cherries and stone fruit. Our day concludes after the Cherry Festival Street Parade, one of the largest street parades in regional Australia.
Day 5 – SUNDAY 2ND DEC 2012 (B,L,D)
Departing Cowra we head east on the Mid Eastern Highway arriving at Abercrombie House for a tour and lunch. This historic mansion was originally the home of the Stewart family - Bathurst pioneers, and is now the home of the Morgan family who have spent thirty years on a program of restoration. Our afternoon takes us on the Sofala Road to Mudgee, where we stop for the night at the beautiful Parklands Resort.
Day 6 – MONDAY 3rd Dec 2012 (B,L,D)
Taste some of the local golden nectar and watch the bees hard at work at the Honey Haven this morning, then head north via Gulgong and Coolah through rich wheat, sheep and beef farming districts to Gunnedah for lunch. Then it’s on to the home of country music Tamworth, for a stop at the Big Guitar. Later we head up the Moonbi Range passing through Uralla for an overnight stay at the Quality Hotel Powerhouse, Armidale.
Day 7 – TUESDAY 4th Dec 2012 (B,MT,L)
Heading north we travel through Guyra and Glenn Innes to Tenterfield for a cuppa. Across the border at Wallangarra into Queensland we pass the grape growing districts of Ballandean, and the stone fruit and apple growing areas of Stanthorpe and The Summit. Then descend to the ‘Rose and Rodeo’ city of Warwick for lunch. We depart via the Cunningham Ranges for Brisbane.
